Tuesday arrived and that meant the end of a fantastic job-shadowing experience. The day started with a modern Greek lesson devoted to history and literature. Three of the Greek teachers, Dora, Despi and Anna, showed a class in which they dealt with history and literature comparing two poets: Greek Yannis Ritsos and Spanish Federico García Lorca.

Due to the change in the original programme, apart from the meeting with the Councelling department on Monday we had to catch up with the lessons we were supposed to attend on Friday but we didn't because we went on the school trip to Philippi.
Friday, 12th April 2019
On the first day of our job-shadowing, we held a meeting with the Erasmus coordinator, Mrs Dora Glaraki, and we decided a change in the original programme. That change was for Friday.

Thursday was an interesting and inspiring day regarding both lessons and meetings in the 28th Lyceum. Early in the morning, we met some members of different departments who explained how they cope with diversity, co-existence and family or personal problems of the students.

After a really long journey, I arrived at my destination in Greece. Thessaloniki is a big city located in the north of the country. The 28th Lyceum of Thessaloniki provides schooling to about 350 students, aged from 15 to 18, from working-class families.

Este blog es parte de un proyecto Erasmus+ KA1 llamado "De la pedagogía de la resignación a la pedagogía de la transformación", coordinado por el
profesor Darío Martínez del IES Tirant lo Blanc de Elche, Alicante. Heading for
Thessaloniki es, en concreto, la segunda parte de este viaje que comenzaba en Scarborough, Inglaterra,
y me lleva ahora a Tesalónica, Grecia:
Si en Scarborough mi objetivo principal era la adquisición
de nuevas herramientas para la enseñanza del inglés como lengua extranjera
desde una perspectiva principalmente comunicativa, mi objetivo esta vez es
aprender a través de la observación. He elegido este centro en Tesalónica por
varias razones: porque ya trabajamos juntos en un proyecto Erasmus anterior,
porque vi que los alumnos de aquel centro presentaban un perfil muy parecido al
de los alumnos de mi centro, porque en ambos centros (situados en países del
sur de Europa) el inglés se enseña como lengua extranjera, etc.
Como he adelantado antes, espero aprender a través de la
observación, de la experiencia en primera persona, de la maestría de otros
compañeros que se enfrentan a situaciones parecidas a diario... Comprobaré cómo
su última reforma educativa los ha obligado, entre otras cosas, a cambiar sus
métodos y sus herramientas. Y trataré de encontrar, analizar y aprovechar
aquello que me pueda ser útil en mi centro y con mis alumnos.
